Two people have died in recent days in separate wrecks on Permian Basin roads.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Louise H. Salinas, 67, of Tahoka was traveling west on CR206 in Gaines County when he failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign at State Highway 214 around 2 p.m. Thursday. Salinas’ Pontiac Grand Prix was struck by a Jeep Wagoneer driven by a 48-year-old man from Lodi.
Salinas, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Seminole Hospital District and pronounced deceased, according to DPS. The other man, who was also wearing a seat belt, was uninjured.
On Friday, a 24-year-old man from Denver City was traveling south on US 385 in a Freightliner truck when the truck veered off the roadway to the east five miles south of Andrews around 7:20 a.m. According to DPS, he over-steered and the truck rolled multiple times.
The man’s passenger, Fabian Terceno, 19, of Denver City wasn’t wearing a seat belt and he was thrown from the truck, DPS stated.
Both men were taken to Permian Regional Medical Center. Terceno was pronounced deceased; the other man, who was wearing a seat belt, was listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries, DPS stated.
