Public invited to church’s anti-racism history tour

Connection Christian Church of Odessa will again lead a special anti-racism history tour led by local educators and activists.

Come tour Odessa and learn about the history of historically marginalized people groups here and how we can be a part of making sure Odessa’s future is open for all. We will meet in our church’s west parking lot at 4241 Tanglewood Lane at 3pm.

Then we will drive in personal cars to four places of historic and current insight. We will be finished at 5:30pm.

Our schedule is as follows:

Sunday, October 20

3pm:  Meet in our church’s west parking lot for prayer and passing out maps (4241 Tanglewood)

3:15pm: Congregation Beth-El, led by President Howard Marks

3:45pm: City Hall, led by Councilman Gilbert Vasquez

4:15pm: “The Flats” at Frederick Douglass Park, led by Rev. Dr. Dawn Weaks

4:45pm Blackshear Elementary, led by educator Sheila Stevenson

5:15pm Questions and Closing Prayer
