Odessan arrested on evading, drug charges

According to the Odessa Police Department, a man’s decision to spin his tires resulted in his arrested on a first-degree felony drug and other charges.

An OPD officer was on patrol in the 800 block of Center Avenue when he saw a man later identified as Roman Guijarro, 38, spinning his tires near East 7th Street.

When the officer tried to pull Guijarro over, he refused to stop, but ultimately pulled into a business in the 1000 block of East 8th Street, the report stated.

Guijarro ran into the business and the officer gave chase, the report stated.

The officer saw Guijarro throw what turned out to be 16 grams of cocaine in a baggy into the front office space of the business, the report stated.

Guijarro was booked into the Ector County jail on suspicion of evading in a motor vehicle, manufacture/delivery of a controll substance, reckless driving, tampering with physical evidence and evading on foot.

He remained in custody Thursday night on surety bonds totaling $73,000.
