Odessan accused of sexually assaulting teen

A 21-year-old Odessa man is facing a sexual assault of a child charge after a 15-year-old girl told authorities she was forced to have sex with him in exchange for a place to stay.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, Odessa officers learned July 24 about the alleged sexual assault.

When the girl spoke to a forensic interviewer at a local child advocacy center she said she ran away from home in June and when she was at a trailer with Zach De la Paz he said she would have to have sex with him if she wanted to stay there, the report stated.

The girl picked Zacharia De la Paz out of a photo array and De la Paz admitted to having sex with the girl at his home in the 5800 block of Saint Louis Avenue, the report stated.

De la Paz was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault of a child and is being held in the Ector County jail on a $50,000 surety bond.
