The City of Odessa recently received its September sales tax check, in the amount of, $4,494,988.50. This amount includes the Economic Development sales tax of ¼ cent. The City of Odessa will receive $3,595,990.80 and the Odessa Development Corporation will receive $898,997.70.
The city saw an increase in sales tax revenue with September’s sales tax revenue total of $3,595,990.80 which reflects an increase of $597,938.54, or 19.94 percent as compared to September 2020.
The Ector County Hospital District received $3,290,180, an increase of $325,146, or 11 percent, over the same period last year.
The 2020-21 year-to-date amount is below the previous fiscal year-to-date amount by $6,835,376.80 or 14.8 percent.
The city has budgeted $36 million in net sales tax revenues for this current fiscal year. Sales tax revenue is generated by sales tax revenue from two months prior to collection, i.e., September’s collection is based on July sales.
