OC board to consider bond election

The Odessa College Board of Trustees will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6 in the Wood Health Science Building, 201 W. University Blvd.

The board will consider taking action on an order calling a bond election in the district on Nov. 5 and providing for the administration of the election.

At a July 31 board workshop, a $355 million bond issue was discussed.

The funds would go toward campus improvements, infrastructure and maintenance.

Odessa College’s total current tax rate is rate is $0.171666 per $100 valuation. The bond would raise the interest and sinking rate for debt service by 11 cents per $100. The average home price in Ector County is $210,000 to $215,000, according to the Ector County Appraisal District.

The board will also consider the 2024-25 budget. At the workshop, Chief Financial Officer Brandy Ham said the proposed 2024-25 budget is $73,390,206.

For 2023-24, it was $66,475,903.

“The majority of that change is all state appropriations,” Ham said after the workshop.

  • 2023-24 All-Academic Teams.
  • Associate degree nursing to bachelor of science in nursing post-licensure program.
  • Odessa College Law Enforcement Training Academy Graduation.
