Nimitz student charged

A student at Nimitz Middle School on Wednesday afternoon told another that hew as going to pull a gun out of his pocket resulting in a Class A misdemeanor charge of threatening the use or exhibition of a firearm in a public school.
A news release from Ector County ISD said it was reported immediately and the campus police offer removed the student from class.
The student did not have a gun, and it was determined that the student made the comment out of frustration, the release said.
“As we have stated in the past, we take statements of this nature very seriously. … We ask parents to please make sure their children understand the seriousness of comments about threatening violence at school,” the release said.
