MCH announces opening of Panda Cares Center of Hope in Pediatric Unit

Medical Center Hospital has announced the opening of the Panda Cares Center of Hope, made possible by Panda Express associates and guests. The opening will take place at 10 a.m. Aug. 8 on the Pediatric Unit (5th floor, West tower).

Panda Express representatives, along with Children’s Miracle Network and MCH leadership will be on hand for the dedication and official opening, a news release said.

The newly-renovated space will feature several video game systems and monitors, sensory wall panels, interactive games and art, as well as a library with books for all ages of children. In addition, programs will be offered featuring therapeutic play, art therapy, meditation and counseling services, designed to give children the courage and strength to thrive.

Panda Cares Centers of Hope across the country are made possible by donations from Panda Express associates and guests. Funds raised in-store and online at Panda Express benefit each store’s local community. Since 2012, Panda Express has raised more than $500,000 for CMN at MCHS and have pledged to raise another $770,000 over the next 10 years.

“We’re beyond thrilled to open the Panda Cares Center of Hope in our Pediatric Unit,” Sam Serrano, Children’s Miracle Network Program Manager at Medical Center Health System, said in the release. “Not only is Panda Express a wonderful partner and fundraiser for CMN at MCHS, they also invest into the physical and emotional well-being of our smallest patients by providing this space for inclusive and interactive learning and entertainment.”

“We are proud to partner with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to bring the vision of the Panda Cares Center of Hope to life and are humbled to be part of the healing journey for the families and kids at these hospitals,” said Dr. Peggy Cheng, co-founder and co-CEO of Panda Restaurant Group. “Children are our future, and through this partnership and curriculum designed to give children the strength to thrive, we will bring smiles and hope to communities nationwide.”
