Manor Park holds grand opening of landscape project

MIDLAND Manor Park is delighted to announce the successful grand opening of the newly redesigned campus landscape and Pevehouse Plaza, celebrated with a vibrant Garden Party on Oct. 10. The event honored the generous donors to the $5 million capital campaign as many gathered to experience the beautifully transformed space.

The landscape project and Pevehouse Plaza have revitalized Manor Park with xeriscaping and seasonal plantings, all thoughtfully designed by KDC Associates. Manor Park hopes to be an example for other large campuses in the Permian Basin that water-wise, low maintenance landscape can be beautiful, a news release said.

The Plaza’s focal point is a large greenhouse donated by Polly and the late Ferrell Davis. They envisioned a space for Manor Park residents to experience the therapeutic gift of gardening, and their vision came to life. Mayor Lori Blong recognized the Davises and their family for the amazing gift. The greenhouse is the same as the one at the Texas Governor’s Mansion in Austin.

“This has been a fantastic day for Manor Park,” Stephen Nelson, President and CEO of Manor Park, said in the release. “We are grateful to Manor Park’s Board of Trustees and the donors that supported this project. It’s wonderful to see the campus transformed with new landscape. Pevehouse Plaza is the center of our campus, and we look forward to it being enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come.”

Pevehouse Plaza, named for the late Beverly Pevehouse, a past Manor Park Trustee, is where residents can enjoy the outdoors, meet with friends and family, and connect with nature. There is much excitement for future events at the Plaza or for future plantings in the greenhouse.
