A 51-year-old Cedar Creek man was struck and killed Tuesday morning by an unknown motorist in Midland.
Midland officers received a call about an accident in the 1900 block of East Interstate 20 around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night. When they arrived they found a still-running Ford pickup truck parked off the roadway and its registered owner, Lazaro Villafuerte Resendiz, suffering life-threatening injuries in the middle of the eastbound lanes of the north service road, said Karisa Danley, a City of Midland spokeswoman.
Resendiz was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Officers believe Resendiz got out of his truck to retrieve a block of wood and was hit by an unidentified vehicle.
They continue to investigate.
