An Odessa man with a criminal history was arrested Wednesday night after he was accused of assaulting a woman and her son.
According to an Odessa Police Department report, officers received a disturbance call from the 1200 block of Old Course Road around 9:30 p.m..
When officers arrived, a woman and her two sons said Justin Ames assaulted the woman and when one of her sons stepped in, he was assaulted too, the report stated.
During the fight, the trio said Ames grabbed a shotgun one of the brothers was holding and discharged it into the ground before going outside, throwing it into the backyard and leaving, the report stated.
Ames was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
As of Thursday night no bond had been set.
