A 25-year-old man from Welch was killed in a two-vehicle collision early Wednesday morning.
The reported collision happened at 4:50 a.m. on Interstate 20 about nine miles west of Odessa, the Department of Public Safety release stated.
Brandon Contreras, 25, of Welch was traveling in a 2015 Volkswagen Passat east on Interstate Highway 20, while Robert Johnson, 50, of Las Vegas was also traveling east on Interstate 20 in a 2011 Peterbilt truck tractor towing a semi-trailer, the release detailed.
The Passat was traveling behind the truck tractor and failed to control its speed and struck the rear of the Peterbilt. The conditions were wet.
Contreras was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing his seatbelt.
Johnson was also wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
