Jaime Ortiz had admitted to soliciting a minor on a dating app after witnesses came forward with evidence. Police say that Ortiz did want to speak to detectives about the situation and agreed to be transported to OPD.
Upon arrival, Ortiz waived his rights and agreed to speak with detectives, the affidavit stated. The interview began by Ortiz asking about the witnesses coming forward with evidence of an alleged crime at his residence located in the 700 block of Magnolia Boulevard.
Ortiz told police that he had unknowingly been talking to a 13-year-old girl through an online dating site at first. Once he did find out the girl was 13, Ortiz continued to talk and at one point they exchanged phone numbers.
Ortiz stated he and the girl continued to communicate via texts instead of the app where the conversations consisted of him and the girl talking about meeting up and having sex eventually, the affidavit detailed.
Ortiz also admitted to police that he sent several pictures of his penis to the girl after she requested them as well. Ortiz also stated he maintained several other conversations with two other juvenile girls, however, the conversations were never inappropriate.
Ortiz was booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on Dec. 23, jail records showed. He had two bonds totaling $35,500 and he posted bail on Dec. 27.
