Man charged with sexual, physical abuse

An Ector County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit detailed a 29-year-old man was arrested after he physically and sexually assaulted his estranged wife.

Manuel Montano was charged with aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony.

ECSO deputies responded to the Medical Center Hospital at 9:04 p.m. Oct. 23 in reference to a sexual assault, the affidavit stated.

Deputies reportedly made contact with the victim, who had been transported to the hospital after having been physically assaulted by her estranged husband, Montano. According to the victim, she has been separated from Montano for the last several months due to constant abuse throughout the length of their 10-year relationship.

On Oct 23, the victim was on the property in the 5300 block of W. Lemon Street after she brought the child she had with Montano to spend time with the grandfather, who lives on the same property as Montano, the affidavit stated. Both the grandfather and child weren’t present during the assault.

The victim reportedly detailed to deputies that Montano came over to his father’s house, while he and the child were gone with the excuse of wanting to talk to his estranged wife.

The victim stated the conversation turned into accusations from Montano of infidelity and eventually lead to Montano becoming violent and physically abusive, the affidavit stated.

According to the victim, Montano reportedly beat on her with closed fists before forcefully undressing her and sexually abusing her for several hours. The victim wasn’t able to call for help due to Montano taking her phone.

The abuse continued until the grandfather returned and was able to run Montano out of his residence before calling to report the incident, the affidavit stated.

The victim was reportedly transported to MCH due to her injuries and as a precaution for being six months pregnant. All the injuries sustained by the victim were documented and her claims of being sexually assaulted were confirmed after a sexual assault exam.

Montano was booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on Oct. 27, jail records show. He has one bond totaling $100,000 and was still in custody as of Friday afternoon.
