Man charged with attempted indecency with 16-year-old girl

An Odessa Police Department probable cause affidavit detailed a 50-year-old was arrested after he attempted to force a 16-year-old girl to touch him inappropriately.

George Yocom, 50, was charged with attempted indecency with a child (family violence), a third-degree felony.

The incident was reported to OPD around 9:53 p.m. Feb. 10 at a residence on Newell Road, the probable cause affidavit stated. Two women told police they received an outcry from their 16-year-old family member.

In the outcry, the 16-year-old girl stated that George Yocom called her into the living room after she had returned home from the gym, the affidavit stated. The girl believed that Yocom was only wanting a hug as he lay on the couch in the living room.

The 16-year-old told police as she reached down to hug George Yocom that he grabbed her hand and moved it inappropriately. The girl told police she moved her hand away.

Officers spoke with Yocom about what had happened with the 16-year-old, the affidavit stated. Yocom stated that when the 16-year-old returned home from the gym he was laying on the living room couch. Yocom stated he called the 16-year-old into the living room and when she leaned in for a hug he grabbed her hand and moved it inappropriately. Yocom also stated the 16-year-old moved her hand away.

Yocom was arrested and booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on Feb. 11, jail records show. Yocom had one bond totaling $15,000 and he posted bail on Feb. 12.
