A 37-year-old man was arrested after police say he assaulted his roommate with a kitchen knife while intoxicated.
Francisco Chox Gusrchaj was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence), a second-degree felony.
The assault happened at 5:10 a.m. Dec. 30 in the 3100 block of N. Jackson Avenue, an Odessa Police Department probable cause affidavit stated.
Dispatch told police prior to their arrival that Gusrchaj was intoxicated and inside the house, while the victim, identified as Javier Rodriguez was outside the listed residence. He told police his roommate, Gusrchaj, had been drinking all evening when they got into an argument.
Rodriguez stated after the argument he went to bed, the affidavit detailed. Moments later, while Rodriguez was in his bedroom, Gusrchaj opened the curtains to his room and began swinging an aluminum kitchen knife at him, which eventually cut him on his left forearm.
The probable cause affidavit details officers saw a cut on Rodriguez’s left arm that had fresh red blood dripping down the side.
Rodriguez showed officers the knife that Gusrchaj used to cut him and also saw his bed sheets with a hole in them where Rodriguez stated Gusrchaj was swinging the knife at him.
Gusrchaj was arrested and booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on Dec. 30, jail records show. He has one bond totaling $30,000 and he was still in custody as of Monday afternoon.
