Man arrested in shooting

A 33-year-old Odessa man was arrested Sept. 12 after authorities said he shot another man four times.

According to an Ector County Sheriff’s Office report released Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to a disturbance at 2780 FM 866 around 5 p.m. Sept. 11.

When deputies arrived, they found Victor Gomez, 33, with a gun and he told them he’d followed his former girlfriend to the home and got into a fight with a 36-year-old man, the report stated.

Gomez said the other man had a knife during the fight and after the fight ended, he went to his vehicle, re-parked his vehicle outside the yard, loaded his gun and shot the other man four times, the report stated.

According to the report, Gomez’s former girlfriend drove the older man to Medical Center Hospital before deputies arrived.

Gomez was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was released Sept. 13 after posting a $50,000 surety bond.
