Man accused of slashing wife

An Odessa man was arrested Monday night on a warrant issued after he was accused of slashing his wife twice with a box cutter last month.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, officers received a disturbance call from the Odessa Motor Inn on East Second Street around 9 p.m. Aug. 20 and when they arrived they found a 55-year-old woman bleeding profusely from cuts to her right leg and neck.

She told officers her husband, Mark Corturo Busby, 56, cut her and then fled, the report stated.

The woman’s son, 34, and another witness told officers Busby sliced her during a physical fight inside and outside of their room at the motel, the report stated.

Busby was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Ector County jail with a $50,000 surety bond.
