Man accused of raping 14-year-old

A 34-year-old Odessa man was arrested Saturday after police said DNA tests confirmed reports he’d sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, officers learned on May 27 that a teenager had reported being raped and when they spoke to her, she said Scott La’Quinn Johnson, 34, had assaulted her during the overnight hours of May 25-May 26.

A sexual assault nurse examination was conducted and DNA was obtained and submitted for testing, the report stated.

The tests showed the probability the DNA was Johnson’s is 278 octillion times greater than it coming from anyone else, the report stated.

Johnson was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault of a child. He was booked into the Ector County jail on a $30,000 surety bond.
