A 22-year-old Odessa man was arrested Wednesday, three days after his girlfriend told police he broke into her apartment, assaulted her and choked her into unconsciousness.
According to an Odessa Police report, officers received a call about a disturbance at an apartment in the 4600 block of Oakwood Drive early Sunday morning.
When officers arrived, a woman told officers she got home from a family function around 3 a.m. and found Peter Alexander Estrada Jr. waiting for her in the parking lot, the report stated.
According to the report, the woman said that after she ran inside her apartment and locked the door, Estrada removed the screen off one of her windows, pushed the window in, entered and chased her into her bedroom.
Once in the bedroom, the woman said Estrada choked her until she blacked out and after she woke up, he proceeded to punch her in the face repeatedly and choke her again, the report stated.
Estrada eventually left the apartment, taking her phone and keys with him, the woman told officers.
Officers saw injuries on the woman consistent with being beaten and choked, the report stated. They also saw a screen on the ground and smudge marks on the window.
When contacted via phone, Estrada told officers they both came in through the window and his girlfriend didn’t have any injuries when he left the apartment, the report stated.
Warrants were issued for Estrada’s arrest and he was booked into the Ector County jail by the Texas Department of Public Safety on suspicion of assault impeding breath and burglary with intentions of committing another felony Wednesday night.
Estrada remained in custody Thursday night on surety bonds totaling $95,000.
