Man accused of assaulting 2 nurses

An Odessa man landed in the Ector County jail Saturday night after two Odessa Regional Medical Center nurses accused him of assaulting them.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, the nurses, a 47-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, said Jesse James Bermejo, 21, pushed the younger nurse away when she was trying to help him and then intentionally stepped on her foot to get away from her.

The nurses said when the older nurse went to help her, Bermejo shoved him into a door and then punched him in the head, the report stated.

Bermejo was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault on a public servant, a third-degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison. He remained in the jail Tuesday on surety bonds totaling $30,000.
