LBJ Elementary School hosted its third annual Hispanic Heritage Parade Friday to the cheers of students and parents.

Fourth and fifth grader social studies students showed the posters of their social studies projects as they walk the parade route through the school parking lot.

Students picked someone of Hispanic descent or someone who has made an impact on culture because “their story is our story,” Principal Zenovia Crier said.

“We do social studies here at LBJ, big time,” she added.

About 180 students marched. There are about 480 students that attend LBJ. Parents were also invited.

The campus will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month throughout the month.

Later this month, Crier said, they will be exploring Hispanic Heritage healthy eating.
