IDEA Permian Basin welcomes students back to school

IDEA Public Schools in the Permian Basin is excited to welcome 2,500 students for the upcoming 2024-25 school year at both campuses, IDEA Travis in Midland and IDEA Yukon in Odessa. The first day of school for both campuses will be Aug. 8.

This year, IDEA Yukon College Preparatory will offer ninth grade for the first time ever this year and serve roughly 1,200 students as the Class of 2028 works to fulfill IDEA’s mission of going to and through college. IDEA Yukon opened its doors in 2021 with kindergarten through second grade and sixth grade and will continue to add a grade level each year until it is fully scaled. Students in grades sixth through ninth will have the opportunity to participate in competitive sports including basketball, flag football, volleyball, baseball and more.

“We are excited to add high school to our IDEA Yukon campus this year,” Annette Macias, executive director for IDEA Public Schools in the Permian Basin, said in a news release. “Our students are about to embark on their high school years, and we are honored to guide them on their academic journey to college.”

IDEA Travis will also welcome approximately 1,300 students in grades pre-kindergarten through 10th. IDEA Travis and IDEA Yukon will offer free breakfast and lunch to all students enrolled every day.
