JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON Engineman First Class Jesus A. Escobar, who has served as a Recruiter for Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) San Antonio since 2019, earned a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, his fourth, for his dedicated service. Escobar was recognized and pinned by the Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) San Antonio’s Executive Officer, CDR. Stacey O’Neal in the presence of command membership.
Escobar, who graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, has faithfully served in the U.S. Navy since 2013. While a member of NTAG San Antonio, Escobar’s performance did not go unnoticed. In addition to the four Navy and Marine Corps Medals, Escobar won Rookie Recruiter of the Year and Diversity Recruiter of the Year.
Personally attaining 77 highly qualified enlisted candidates along with a 100% shipping rate, Escobar displayed a passion for recruiting. Escobar’s impressive efforts contributed to the command attaining the fiscal year 2020 Bronze and Gold Recruiting “R” awards.
When asked how the Navy has impacted his life, Escobar said, “It’s definitely been a positive impact on my life that taught me a different approach to success.”
Escobar’s pride when it came to serving was on display throughout his recognition, and he did not hesitate to share his feelings. “The Navy has provided me with great benefits, and the opportunity to travel to places I could have never imagined seeing,” said Escobar.
Escobar has traveled to 10 countries and served on the USS Emory S Land (AS-39) and the USS Tornado (PC-14).
During the conclusion of his recognition, Escobar shared what knowledge he would pass on to a young man or woman wanting to succeed in life. “If I could go back in time and share any knowledge I have gained while in the Navy with the 12-year-old me or a young person today, I would say that no matter what you do in life, always push forward and know that mistakes are part of life you should always learn from,” said Escobar.
During his recognition, Escobar’s noteworthy accomplishments, perseverance, and dedication to duty were highlighted.
Escobar, who is excited to return to sea duty, was thankful for his time at NTAG San Antonio and shared his thoughts with those present. “Although it went really fast, I really enjoyed my time here,” Escobar said. “Recruiting was pretty fun.”
NTAG San Antonio’s area of responsibility includes more than 30 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting Stations spread throughout 144,000 square miles of Central and South Texas territory.
