Food bank, UTPB partner for Hunger Action Month with special peanut butter drive

The West Texas Food Bank has announced a special partnership with the University of Texas Permian Basin in honor of Hunger Action Month. As part of the campaign to raise awareness and fight hunger in the community, they are inviting fans and supporters to join them at the UTPB Football tailgate next Saturday at Astound Broadband Stadium at 3 p.m. Sept. 14.

The Falcon Walk begins at 4 p.m. at the stadium.

Fans are encouraged to bring jars of peanut butter to the tailgate, which will be donated to the West Texas Food Bank to help families in need across the region, a news release said. Peanut butter is a highly requested item due to its nutritional value and long shelf life.

Why peanut butter?

Peanut Butter is a protein-rich food that is shelf-stable and can be used in a variety of ways, making it an essential item in the food bank. Every jar donated will go directly to helping those in need in the West Texas Community, the release said.
