1. A surge of early voters turned up at the polls on Friday, the last day of early voting for the Primary Election.
2. When a mass school shooting occurs like the one in Parkland, Fla., Ector County Independent School District Police Department Lt. Jeff Daniels said the impulse is to look within — even if it’s just reviewing the emergency manual — and make sure the best efforts are being made for all the students and campuses.
3. A STARs grant from the UT System will be used to set up a research laboratory, purchase equipment and hire undergraduate assistants to support their respective research.

District Clerk Clarissa Webster is asking the Ector County Commissioner’s Court to approve a motion to allow her office to host the county’s first Passport Fair, opening up the courthouse from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24 to dedicate that time in the clerk’s office to handling passport applications.
5. Dr. Raphael Nwojo injects high-dose steroids into the middle ear to reverse the inflammation. Nwojo added that it’s actually the inflammation from a virus or other source that causes the hearing loss.
