A 24-year-old Midland man has been identified as the victim of a fatal pedestrian-vehicle crash that took place July 20 in Midland County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a preliminary investigation has revealed Franklin David Montilla Azuaje ran into the traffic lanes of State Highway 191 at mile marker 270 around 2:45 a.m. and was struck by a Ford F-350 being driven by a 28-year-old Odessa man who tried unsuccessfully to avoid hitting him.
Azuaje was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital where he died shortly after arriving.
Sgt. Steven Blanco said it took time to identify the victim and notify his family because he wasn’t carrying identification.
The crash remains under investigation.
