MIDLAND Midland ISD is honored to participate in free, educational field trips at Sibley Nature Center during the 2024-2025 school year and Summer school sessions. This initiative, thanks to ExxonMobil and Sibley Nature Center, offers an exceptional opportunity for students to connect with the natural world and enhance their learning experiences outside the classroom.

Midland and Greenwood ISD students will have the chance to embark on a two-hour educational adventure at Sibley Nature Center, including a guided nature hike, a tour of the education garden with interactive activities, and a visit to the Sibley Nature Center museum. These field trips are carefully designed to support a variety of academic subjects, including Science, English, Art, and History, ensuring that students gain a well-rounded understanding of the Flora and Fauna of the Llano Estacado.

“Midland ISD is proud to provide this invaluable educational opportunity to our students with the help of ExxonMobil and Sibley Nature Center,” Lyndsey White, Midland ISD chief communications officer, said in a news release. “We are grateful to Sibley Nature Center for hosting these field trips, which will undoubtedly inspire our students to connect with nature and develop a deep appreciation for the environment.”

Research has shown that time spent outdoors can significantly boost both mental and physical well-being. The field trips sponsored by ExxonMobil aim to reinforce the importance of conservation, stewardship, and hands-on interactive learning, all while ensuring that students have fun and memorable experiences. By engaging with nature in a meaningful way, students will not only enhance their academic knowledge but also develop a deeper appreciation for the environment and the importance of preserving it.

Midland ISD is dedicated to providing high-quality educational experiences that prepare students for success in college, careers, and life. This partnership with ExxonMobil reflects our commitment to expanding learning opportunities for our students and fostering a love of nature and the outdoors.
