The Presidential Archives at UTPB is located at 4919 E. University Blvd.
Starting on Thursday, the Ellen Noël will conduct all operations from the neighboring building including exhibitions, educational programs, community events and general business. This move marks the beginning of the renovation and expansion of the Ellen Noël’s building and grounds, a project which is expected to last into 2024.
The Ellen Noël’s building at 4909 University Avenue is now closed to the public. The Ellen Noël reopens in its temporary location at noon on Thursday. The first exhibition to be displayed in the space is “Spitting Image: Portraits from the Ellen Noel Art Museum’s Collection”.
All are invited to a public reception from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 22.
“We are grateful to our friends at UTPB who have made this space available to us and our community of nearly 30,000 visitors, students and members,” ENAM’s Executive Director, Sheila Perry stated in the press release. The Presidential Archives is one of the city’s most distinctive landmarks, but has been closed to the public for a number of years. While in their temporary space, Museum staff will lead the task of organizing and accessioning the collection. “The Presidential Archives at UTPB is an incredible resource for Odessa. We look forward to collaborating with them on several programs and helping to reanimate their collections and activities.”
The Ellen Noël plans to maintain its own well known series of programs while operating in their temporary space. For updates on the upcoming schedule of events please visit their website, NoelArtMuseum.org.
