The Ellen Noël Art Museum announced via press release a mid-year art supply restock for schools participating in the Museum’s Art 2 Go program sponsored by Oxy.
The Ellen Noël is launching the first art supply restock with a press event at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dowling Elementary.
The event will include remarks from Ellen Noël Executive Director, Sheila Perry followed by a question and answer session and photo opportunities. Members of the media have been invited to join representatives from the Ellen Noël Art Museum, ECISD and Oxy as they hand out art supplies. This event is closed to the public.
Oxy, a leading energy producer in the Permian Basin, was the first company to pledge a large, multi-year gift for Art 2 Go, the press release stated. This was the largest donation the Ellen Noël has ever received for a single program, this generous gift has allowed the museum to expand and maintain the program in ECISD elementary schools and to begin piloting Art 2 Go in five MISD schools this year.
As part of Oxy’s commitment, the company will donate art supplies to every single second grader in ECISD and in the five participating MISD schools to support these students for the remainder of the school year.
“The Ellen Noël Art Museum is proud to partner with Oxy to bring Art 2 Go to every 2nd grade class in ECISD and to begin expansion to MISD. With this support, Oxy demonstrates their continued commitment to making the Permian Basin a great place to live,” Perry stated in the press release. “Together, this partnership is giving us an opportunity to use art as a way to enhance the educational experiences of children across the community. The Museum has a well-established relationship with ECISD and we look forward to continue working together as well as developing a relationship with MISD.”
Prior to this event, Covid restrictions had delayed visits from Oxy representatives who have been excited to meet with students, teachers and staff. The Museum is ready to celebrate our partnership with Oxy as they help with the first of our art supply restocks at schools throughout ECISD and MISD.
