Ellen Noël Art Museum hosts “Celebrating the Future – Community Art Day”

The Ellen Noël Art Museum of the Permian Basin is set to host “Celebrating the Future – Community Art Day” from noon to 3 p.m. on April 30 at the Ellen Noël Art Museum, located at 4909 E. University Boulevard.

“Celebrating the Future – Community Art Day” is a family oriented, carnival themed fun event with hands-on art stations, games and food trucks, a press release stated. All ages are welcome and admission is free. The museum encourages the public to arrive before 12:30 p.m., as it will have a special announcement at this time.

Community Art Days at the Ellen Noel Art Museum began with the inaugural Art a la Carte, an art-filled day in the garden celebrating the museum’s 20th anniversary. It was such a success that it was decided to continue the event every year in late September.

A few years later, the museum hosted its first “Dia de los Muertos” and again, the popularity led to it becoming an annual event near November 1. Eventually, the museum added more community art days, typically one focused on printmaking near Valentine’s Day and another in late spring.

Along with getting to view current exhibitions, guests are able to enjoy hands-on art activities and visits from community partners such as UTPB’s Pots and Prints, Basin PBS, Odessa Arts, The Ector County Library, Odessa High’s Harp Ensemble and Mariachi Armonia.

The public is invited to help support the Museum by attending “Celebrating the Future – Community Art Day.” For more information call 432-550-9696 ext 214 or visit
