Threats shut down Andrews High School

Andrews High School was evacuated Thursday after the police department received a bomb threat and multiple threats of gun violence toward the school. Bomb squads from the Midland and Odessa police departments were searching the school as of 1:20 p.m.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, personnel from the Andrews police, sheriff’s office, DPS and Gaines County Sheriff’s Office evacuated the school and parents were asked to pick up their students on the eastside of Mustang Bowl Stadium after the calls were received at 11 a.m.

Extra officers and troopers are at all Andrews schools as a precautionary measure while the bomb squads conduct their searches.
