Cedric Bleimling, director of Fab Lab Permian Basin based at Odessa College, and 10 of his students will be on hand at SXSW EDU, March 5 through March 8 in Austin.
Bleimling will talk about the success of the state-of-the-art fabrication lab, made possible through partnership with the Fab Foundation and Chevron, which has hosted 1,461 students, 480 community members, 178 teachers and 1,320 visitors in the past semester alone, a news release said.
He will demonstrate the mobile version of the lab at SXSW EDU and show visitors that with 3-D printers, laser cutters and rapid-prototyping machines, the Fab Lab is creating a pipeline of local talent to fill the jobs of the future.
