The Education Foundation of Odessa announced Wednesday that they are the recipients of a grant from ConocoPhillips in the amount of $6,000 in support of the Bookworms Literacy Program in Ector County ISD.
The Bookworms Literacy Program is designed to help increase literacy and foster a lifelong love of reading. Each month students will read along to a story in class and then receive a book to take home to keep in an effort to promote at-home family reading.
The primary objective of this program is to reinforce at home what the student has learned about books and reading in school. For the 2021-2022 school year, more than 6,700 students in grades prekindergarten through first grade benefited from this program.
