One of Ector County ISD’s strategic priorities is the development of teachers from the local area, also known as “grow our own” efforts.
A piece of that talent pipeline development is identifying current high school students who want to pursue a career in education and helping them along that pathway. ECISD’s new program is called Future Teachers of Odessa.
A donation of $40,000 from the Education Foundation of Odessa is directed toward this new teacher-prep program and will be used to pay for dual credit tuition through both Odessa College and the University of Texas Permian Basin, a news release said.
ECISD will have an event Monday celebrating this at 10 a.m. in room C-34A at George H.W. Bush New Tech Odessa, 300 E. 29th St., as representatives from ECISD, OC, and UTPB recognize the Education Foundation donation, the release said.
