ECSO: Guitar, beer bottle used in assault

An Odessa man accused of attacking another man with an acoustic guitar, a glass beer bottle and his fists was arrested July 2 on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrant.

According to an Ector County Sheriff’s Department report that was released Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to a home on West 61st Street on May 15 about an assault. When deputies arrived, they found a 32-year-old man in the back of an ambulance with a shattered orbital floor, eyes that were swollen shut and a bloody nose and mouth.

The man told deputies he’s been living in an RV on the property for about a year with the permission of Jacob Eicher’s former girlfriend, the report stated. He said that earlier Eicher came into the RV, put him in a chokehold, slammed him to the floor and repeatedly punched him.

According to the report, the man said Eicher, also 32, hit him with an acoustic guitar and glass beer bottle until both broke. He said Eicher threatened to kill him and himself before leaving.

Eicher was booked into the Ector County jail on the warrant July 2 and he was released the next day after posting a surety bond of $75,000.
