A 40-year-old man was arrested last week after Texas DPS special agents said he showed up at a pre-arranged meeting space to have sex with someone he thought was a 16-year-old girl.
According to a Department of Public Safety report, a special agent met Austin Lee Barnes online while posing as a 16-year-old girl. Over the course of a month Barnes asked the girl several questions about oral sex and meeting. He also asked the girl for photos, the report stated.
On Sept. 19, Barnes showed up at a predetermined meeting space to have sex with the girl and condoms were found in his vehicle, the report stated.
According to the report, Barnes told agents he knew what he’d done was wrong.
Barnes was arrested on suspicion of online solicitation of a minor and child grooming. He was booked into the Ector County jail and bond was set at $130,000.
