Police charged a woman Friday after she reportedly assaulted her girlfriend and began choking her until she nearly passed out.
Officers were first called about a domestic disturbance around 3:02 a.m. Friday at Woodview Apartments, 4330 N. Grandview Ave., an Odessa Police Department news release said.
Police made contact with the 24-year-old complainant when they arrived on scene, the release detailed. Her girlfriend, 35-year-old Trina Monique Zuniga, reportedly threw her onto a bed, and held her down with all her weight while choking her out.
Zuniga fled the scene before police arrived, the release stated, and was soon arrested when Zuniga returned while officers were still on scene.
OPD charged Zuniga with assault by strangulation, a third-degree felony.
Jail records show Zuniga was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Friday and has a $15,000 bond.
