U.S. Marshals arrested a man in Mexico Tuesday wanted in Ector County for reportedly shooting a man to death last November.
The suspect, 28-year-old Jesus “Jesse” Zermeno, was arrested Tuesday in Ojinaga, Mexico, an Ector County Sheriff’s Office news release said, and was then transferred to Presidio County for booking before being extradited back to Ector County Wednesday.
Deputies were initially called about a shooting just after 10 p.m. Nov. 15 at 12293 W. Citation Drive, the release stated, where they found the victim, 37-year-old Armando Nunez, lying on the ground and shot several times.
A second victim was also found at the scene, 26-year-old Rocky Hernandez, who suffered two gunshot wounds and survived the incident. Emergency medical services were called to the scene for Nunez, but he did not survive, the release detailed.
The release stated that the shooting was investigated as a domestic disturbance, and the shooter apparently knew the victims.
Further investigation revealed Zermeno as a suspect, the release said, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with murder, a first-degree felony.
Jail records show Zermeno has not had a bond set.
