An Odessa Police Department press release detailed Monday morning that a 16-year-old male has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in northeast Odessa.
The 16-year-old male has been charged with murder, a first-degree felony.
The reported shooting happened at 8:09 p.m. Sunday at Sedona Ranch Apartments, which is located at 8001 Brownstone Road, the OPD press release stated.
Officers arrived at the scene and reportedly found a dead man with gunshot wounds. The man was later identified as 22-year-old Joshua Holbert. Next of kin were notified.
Investigation showed that a 16-year-old male reportedly shot Holbert multiple times and fled the scene before police arrived. The 16-year-old male was located Monday morning.
The 16-year-old male was charged and arrested. Kevin Mann, the director of the Ector County Youth Center, told the Odessa American over the phone the 16-year-old male arrived at the facility around noon and he will have a detention hearing on Wednesday.
