A girl reportedly told the Odessa Police Department that she was sexually assaulted numerous times from the time she was 9 years old to 14 years old by a known person.
Carl Akin, 40, was charged with sex abuse of a child continuous: victim under 14, a first-degree felony.
The girl, who was given the pseudonym “KS”, reported the sexual abuse to the police on Aug. 24, an OPD probable cause affidavit detailed.
KS reportedly told OPD the sexual abuse started when she was 9 years old and it concluded at 14 years old. KS stated that Akin took advantage of the fact that her mother was hospitalized.
KS also stated she was sexually assaulted in her mother’s room, the affidavit stated. KS continued to detail the sexual assaults continued numerous times even after her mother was released from the hospital.
A SANE exam was reportedly administered to KS and it indicated trauma.
Akin was booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on Sept. 11 and he has one bond totaling $100,000, jail records show. He was still in custody as of Tuesday morning.
