Chevron, Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation team up to distribute grants in West Texas

ARLINGTON The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and Chevron are teaming up to distribute grants focused on funding organizations supporting youth in the Midland and Odessa area.

In its first year, The Chevron/Texas Rangers Community Grant Program will distribute $50,000 in grants to support local non-profit organizations, schools, and municipalities that provide meaningful programming to children through educational curriculum, after-school programming, or youth sports initiatives.

After extensive review and consideration, Casa de Amigos, First Tee – West Texas, Midland Junior Baseball, Society of Professional Engineers – Permian Basin Section, and Young Women’s Leadership Academy of Midland, have been selected to receive the inaugural grants. The organizations will be honored during a check presentation pre-game ceremony at the Rangers-Mariners game on Saturday, September 21.

“We are proud to join Chevron in making an impact on the Midland-Odessa region through this first-ever grant program,” Karin Morris, Senior VP of Community Impact and Executive Director of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, said in a news release. “This marks an exciting step forward in supporting local organizations, and we are thrilled to see these grants begin to make a difference in the community.”

All grant proposals were reviewed by the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation staff and by the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation Board of Directors.

“Chevron proudly supports non-profit organizations and schools that are empowering youth in the communities where we operate,” Nicole Barber, public and government affairs manager for Chevron’s Mid-Continent business unit, said in the release. “It’s an honor to partner with the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation to expand our support for youth in West Texas through this new grant program. Congratulations to all the grant recipients.”
