Chain-reaction crash kills Odessa woman

An Odessa woman died Monday evening in a four-vehicle crash in Andrews County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the 29-year-old driver of a GMC Sierra was traveling east on SH128 when he failed to control his speed and rear-ended a Kia Optima that was stopped at a temporary construction zone traffic red light at milepost 224.

The Optima was forced into the back of a Ford F-150 which then hit the back of a Ram 2500, DPS stated.

The driver of the Optima, Rosa Pulgar Granado, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene. The GMC driver, a man from Andrews, suffered minor injuries and the other drivers, who were from Cleveland, Texas and Midland, weren’t hurt. Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
