A 27-year-old Odessa man was arrested on a robbery warrant Wednesday, two weeks after he was accused of stealing a Volvo ST5.
According to an Odessa Police Department report, a 31-year-old man called 911 around 9 p.m. Jan. 31 to report a man he knows as “Cameron” came up to him while he was waiting for a friend near Harris Street and Beaty Avenue, shoved him to the ground and stole his red Volvo.
The alleged victim said the suspect told him he’d shoot him if he resisted, the report stated.
Officers noted he had abrasions on his leg from where he fell, the report stated.
The man provided police with a description of Cameron and a detective found someone matching that description in an Ector County jail database under the name of Camron Bruce Sawyer.
The next day, OPD responded to a hit and run crash involving a red Volvo and the license plate on that car came back to a Nissan Maxima owned by Sawyer’s sister, the report stated.
On Feb. 6, the alleged victim picked Sawyer out of a photo lineup and detectives obtained a warrant for Sawyer’s arrest.
Sawyer was booked on the robbery warrant Wednesday and is being held in the jail on a $25,000 surety bond.
