Birx to be part of symposium

The Texas Tribune will present Dr. Deborah Birx at “Small Towns. Big Possibilities,” a symposium on the future of rural Texas, at noon Nov. 14 in San Antonio and online.

The symposium is Nov. 13–14. The event is free to attend and meals are included. It starts at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, and conclude at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14.

Birx, presidential adviser and professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, is an international leader in public health. She will discuss her work in rural West Texas that aims to boost rural health care services in local communities.

Birx will be our keynote lunch guest. She joins a great lineup of speakers examining all things rural, from the state of agriculture to rural health care and education to economic development and workforce training.
