Bird Box Gifts hosting Thankful Thursday

Locally owned Bird Box Gifts is continuing the holiday season with an opportunity to shop unique items and support the West Texas Food Bank.

In a statement to the West Texas Food Bank, owner Samatha Spencer said, “this year has been tough for everyone in so many ways. My husband Ben and I have faced our most difficult years of business and are so thankful for all of the support we have been shown. We wanted a way to give back during this crazy time. We and many of our friends are involved with local nonprofits and we see how much they are hurting to continue to serve the community around us. The idea for Thankful Thursdays came originally from brainstorming pop ups but we decided to turn it into a way to highlight the wonderful organizations around us and make a time of giving. This Thursday we will have special shopping hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 10% of all sales will go directly to the West Texas Food Bank. It’s a way for us to join with the community to give back to the nonprofit organizations that give so much.”

In addition to the special shopping hours, Bird Box Gifts will donate 10% of your sale when you mention the West Texas Food Bank for the whole shopping day of Dec. 16.

The West Texas Food Bank will be one of many nonprofits highlighted for Thankful Thursday at Bird Box Gifts, located in the Imperial shopping center in Midland, 3211 W. Wadley Ave, No. 16.

Other local vendors, like Tall City Brewery, will be showing their support with product samples.

“We at the Food Bank are so thankful for the partnerships we have throughout the 19 counties we serve, and for the willingness of our community to step up and help their own,” Libby Campbell, executive director of the West Texas Food Bank said in a news release. “Bird Box Gifts is such a fun and unique shop in Midland, and what a great opportunity to find a few last minute Christmas gifts and support the Food Bank.”
