Beer run suspect arrested

Surveillance videos helped police identify a man accused of pepper spraying a convenience store clerk during a beer run Thursday.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, a clerk at a Quick Track on Golder Avenue told police a man came into the store on Thursday, walked to the back of the store, grabbed several beers and walked out.

The clerk said he jumped over the counter to confront the man only to be pepper sprayed in the face, the report stated.

Still photos were taken from the store’s video camera and circulated amongst OPD officers and the suspect was identified as Michael John Gilmore, 39, the report stated.

Gilmore was arrested on suspicion of robbery Saturday and booked into the Ector County jail with a $25,000 surety bond.
