A 68-year-old North Carolina man was killed Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a Canton man driving a Freightliner slowed down to avoid debris in the roadway near mile marker 1o4 and the driver of an International tractor-trailer that was traveling behind the Freightliner suffered a blow-out and hit the trailer of the Freightliner.

Scott Allen Burgess, a passenger in the International died at the scene. The driver of that vehicle, a 60-year-old man who was also from North Carolina, was taken to Medical Center Hospital in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
