A fatal car crash occurred early on Wednesday in Gaines County according to a press release from the Texas Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at 7:37 a.m. on US 62, mile marker 226, just six miles west of Seminole.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash, a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2008 Jeep Wrangler with a posted speed limit of 75 miles per hour.
Two people were killed in the crash. Wilma A. Delk, 51, of Andrews and Samuel E. Pennington, 62 of Seminole were both pronounced dead on the scene. No other people were injured.
Both were pronounced dead on scene and were not wearing their seat belt.
Preliminary investigation indicates that one of the vehicles was going in the wrong direction as the release said the vehicle was traveling west in the eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 62.
The second vehicle was traveling east on U.S. Highway 62.
