Connection Christian Church is proud to announce the opening of their new location at 4241 Tanglewood Lane.
On Sunday, the church will hold two worship services, a classic service at 9 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11 a.m.
A free brunch will be served at 10 a.m. The public is cordially invited to the services as well as the brunch.
Connection Christian Church began serving Odessa and the surrounding area in 1906 as First Christian Church downtown and has continued be a vital part of the community for more than 110 years. Their relocation is the fourth, and most major, relocation of their history, and the first renaming in the church’s history.
The church is co-pastored by the Rev. Dawn Weaks and the Rev. Joe Weaks. Weaks said, “From the beginning, this church has been a big part of building the community of Odessa. For our next era of ministry, our question was ‘How can we be a big blessing for our community in the 21st century like we were back when we started?’”
Renovation of what was formerly a medical office building was made possible by financial commitments from the congregation. The new facility includes a sanctuary, education area and office space for the congregation. Additionally, the facility features The Connection Center, a large space to house community non-profit organizations.
“We are very excited about expanding our ministry in this new location,” added Weaks. “The heartbeat of the church is to connect people to Christ and community. We don’t want anybody to live in the Permian Basin, even if it’s just for a year, and feel like they never really got connected. That’s why we are here!”
The public is cordially invited to attend a Ribbon Cutting and Open House at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The public is also invited to attend the Sunday celebration that includes the free brunch on Sunday.
